When a casino has been in operation for almost twenty years, there are bound to be differences of opinion when it comes to whether or not they are a reputable place to play. However, I have never come across a site with more polarizing feelings; blacklisted by some sites, given a glowing review by others.

Gaming Club Casino is one of the few casinos online that seems to have people in one of two camps; you either love it or you hate it. Let’s try to figure out what is at the root of this casino’s confusing nature.

About Gaming Club Casino

Gaming Club Casino Banner

The origins of Gaming Club Casino go all the way to the early days of online gaming sites. Once one of the pioneering online casinos, these days the company has changed hands and is now overseen by the Digimedia Group of casinos. This group consolidated many of the old, standalone Microgaming casinos to take advantage of pooled liquidity and resources. During this changeover, there seem to have been some issues with regards to more restrictive Terms and Conditions; these were not received well by players and affiliates alike, causing some commotion on the forums. While this all did occur, I can understand how difficult it can be merging a whole series of independent firms, so I want to give Digimedia the benefit of the doubt in this case.

Gaming Club has two gaming licenses promoted on their homepage – one from the Malta Gaming Authority and the other from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission in Canada. These days the Malta license holds more weight in the gambling community, so I am happy to see that they have gone through that due diligence process.

Who Can Play at Gaming Club Casino

Having both a license from a reputable jurisdiction such as Malta and one from a more operator-friendly location as Kahnawake, it is hard to determine which way the casino leans when it comes to restricting players. However, the software partner may be the tie-breaker in this case; Microgaming doesn’t allow its licensees to accept players from certain countries, most specifically the United States and South Africa. Add in some changing regulation in many European markets and you are left with this list of restricted countries:

  • Belgium
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Spain
  • France
  • United Kingdom
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • Israel
  • Iran
  • Italy
  • Philippines
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Singapore
  • Turkey
  • Taiwan
  • United States
  • South Africa

Software Suppliers

For their offering, Gaming Club Casino uses Microgaming as their exclusive software provider for their digital games. While I might often be more excited when a casino uses multiple content partners, in this case, I am just as happy to see only the one name running the brand. Microgaming is a world leader in casino software developer, having won several awards for design over the last two decades.

Not only will you find excellent content at Microgaming casinos, but you will also see the level of detail put into gameplay and speed, all of which leads to a very good player experience. The Microgaming suite of games are available at Gaming Club are available as browser based Instant Play games, and most of these games have been configured for mobile browser access as well.

For their Live Dealer games, Gaming Club has chosen to work with Evolution Gaming, another excellent decision by this casino. Evolution focuses their attention solely on Live Dealer software, working to bring players the best-streamed tables featuring a broad range of dealer choices.

Pros and Cons

Jackpots Galore

Microgaming provides its licensees the option of joining a series of pooled progressive jackpots which can be won by any player on the network. By pooling the contributions of many casinos around the world, these progressives grow rapidly and also are more likely to be hit as a result. Gaming Club takes advantage of the full complement of network progressives, offering over a dozen jackpot titles to its players. This includes the Mega Moolah game, which at the time of writing this review had a jackpot prize of over $3 million USD.

Multiple Languages Supported

These days, it is more important than ever to provide as customized a gaming experience as possible. The competitive world of online casinos can be fickle at times, so knowing how to keep players loyal after spending so much to acquire them is what separates the best casinos from the rest of the herd.

Gaming Club starts this customized journey for its players by offering their website and customer service in multiple languages. The website is currently available in over 20 different languages alone. This may seem like a trivial point, but trust me when something gets lost in translation it can mean the difference between a happy customer and one who is searching for a new casino.

Vague Website Information

When a casino doesn’t give away too much information on their website, it makes me a little bit leery about what else they may be hiding. Gaming Club has been in business since 2001 online (and longer if you believe their site) so I don’t think they are trying to deceive players; I just don’t get why there is a lack of transparency when it comes to promotions and bonuses. Most players make their determination of what casino to play at by evaluating the offers available; Gaming Club shoots themselves in the foot by making players jump through hoops to find this information.

High Wagering Requirements

Considering how few promotions are outlined on their site, Gaming Club makes the wagering requirements very clear. This is also a bit frustrating, as the play-through is 50x on bonuses. This is also compounded by the fact that every game besides slot machines are discounted from a playthrough perspective. In general, most casinos offer their slots players a better chance to clear the bonus, but in the case of Gaming Club, it is damn near impossible to meet the requirements unless you are playing at the slot machines.

Game Selection

Gaming Club Casino Game Selection

As mentioned, the Microgaming suite of games is one of the best available on the market today. Gaming Club boasts having over 600 choices of games in their lobby, so let’s look at some of these games in a little more detail.

The slots catalog is the jewel in the Microgaming crown. There are no less than 350 different titles available for you to play at Gaming Club; you can see from the list below that the developer blends the best of licensed content with their own spin on games. Table Games

Not to be outdone by the slots lobby, there are also a ton of great Table Games available at Gaming Club. While there aren’t nearly the sheer numbers of games as there are slots machines, you will find all the typical Table Games along with many variants to go along with them. For example, you can find 8 different types of Roulette alone! Take a look for yourself:

  • Craps
  • Red Dog
  • European Blackjack
  • Vegas Downtown Blackjack
  • European Blackjack Hi Lo 13
  • Vegas Strip Blackjack
  • Big Five Blackjack
  • Atlantic City Blackjack
  • Bonus Blackjack
  • Double Exposure
  • Spanish Blackjack
  • Super Fun 21
  • Classic Blackjack Multi-Hand
  • 3-Card Poker
  • High-Speed Poker
  • Wheel of Riches
  • Baccarat
  • Hold’em High
  • Bonus Pai Gow Poker
  • Roulette Royale – Progressive
  • Premier Roulette
  • French Roulette
  • American Roulette
  • Multi-Player Roulette
  • Multi Wheel European Roulette Gold
  • French Roulette Gold
  • European Roulette Gold

Video Poker

If you are a video poker nut like I am, then you are always combing casinos for excellent pay tables and game variants that will give you the best chance of winning. When you hit the Video Poker section of the Gaming Club lobby, you will find over a dozen different variants, many of which are also available in Multi-hand options:

  • All Aces
  • Jacks or Better
  • All American
  • Joker Poker
  • Bonus Poker Deluxe
  • Double Joker
  • Deuces Wild
  • Louisiana Double
  • Aces & Faces
  • Double Bonus
  • Bonus Deuces Wild
  • Tens or Better
  • Aces & Eights
  • Deuces & Joker
  • Double Bonus

Live Dealer Games

If you are looking for online casino action that is a little more interactive and feels like you are sitting in a real casino rather than in your underwear on the couch, then I highly recommend you try playing Live Dealer games. While these games will play more slowly than the typical online casino games, they do feature a warm body on the other end of the camera, and at least that will distract you while you are in the middle of your session.

Evolution Gaming has a large studio which features a whole range of dealers you can choose from. Here are the games they are currently spreading in the Live Dealer section:

  • Blackjack
  • Baccarat
  • Casino Hold’em
  • Roulette
  • Keno
  • Ultimate Texas Holdem

Promotions

Here is an area of the site that I found to be very frustrating not only as a reviewer but as a player as well. Most sites give you far too much information when it comes to promotions, but as I mentioned earlier, this is not the case at Gaming Club. So, while this section may be longer in other casino reviews I have written, I will try to give you as much information as I can find on this casino’s offers.

No-Deposit Bonus – No, really, there isn’t one

This page is the biggest waste of time that I have ever encountered at an online casino. For some reason, there is a tab that is labeled “No-Deposit Bonus” which, when clicked, gives you a three paragraph explanation of how in an increasingly competitive market many casinos are giving new players a chance to play with a bonus just for registering. That would be okay, except there is no actual no-deposit bonus available at Gaming Club. I hope the casino either removes this page or actually updates it with an offer.

Welcome Bonus

This is the one offer that seems to have details listed. When you register an account at Gaming Club and decide to make a deposit, you

Ongoing Promotions

This again is where the casino starts to hoard information for themselves. They claim to have many different offers for their players, but on this page, there is nothing more than this text:

When you play at Gaming Club Casino, you will be bombarded with many promotional offers, Loyalty Rewards, and VIP Rewards!

* Prize Packed Promotions: You can take advantage of daily, weekly and monthly promotions filled with rewards that range from cash, casino credits, and free spins to cool gadgets, 5-star cruises and exotic holidays!

* Match Promotions: You will be offered regular midweek and weekend percentage match bonuses based on your playing activity of the preceding weeks! – You will receive updates via emails and in your software to alert you to any bonus reward opportunities.

I would really like to see more details on these promotions on this page – forcing someone to create an account just to find out what the offers are isn’t very player-friendly for sure.

Tournaments

At least there is one area of the marketing department that is transparent – Gaming Club has a series of daily and weekly slots tournaments which are available to all players. Ranging in entry fee from Free to $10, these tournaments have prizes that make playing slots games just a little bit sweeter. You can check out all the events in their casino lobby.

Banking

Gaming Club offers players multiple options for making deposits and withdrawals. Surprisingly, the site does not yet offer Bitcoin as a solution; the cryptocurrency is gaining in popularity with every passing day, so I expect it will be a payment option here sooner than later.

As for withdrawals, the site claims that they have some of the fastest withdrawal times in the industry, with most being processed in 48 hours (depending on payment option selected). I haven’t had to make a withdrawal yet, but all indications are that payments are not an issue, at least from a player complaint perspective.

Your cashier will give you the updated list of payment options available to you in your country so some of these may not appear:

Comp Program

There is a Comp program at Gaming Club Casino…but I defy you to try to find the details of it on their website. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to see that there is one, but truth be told I had to find the details by looking online for other reviews of the site. Here is what I was able to ascertain:

The casino offers you the chance to earn comp points at a rate of 3 points for every $10 wagered on slots, 2 points for every $10 wagered on Roulette, Video Poker, Pai Gow, and War, and 1 point for every $10 bet on all the other games. The points can be redeemed for real cash at a rate of 200 points for $1.

VIP Program

Again, the casino claims to have an excellent VIP program, but there is no information about it to be found on their website. I did a little more digging around the industry, but I came up empty handed on the details of this program; one can only assume it is tied to the number of points you accumulate playing the games. Here is what the casino writes about their VIP program on their website:

Gaming Club Casino rolls out the red carpet for its Very Important Players. Their 5-star rewards exceed the standard casino offers so VIP players can look forward to more free spins, credits, and bonuses as well as exclusive promotions. Plus they receive personal assistance from VIP hosts any time of the night or day.

I will keep trying to get more details on this program, and when I receive them, I will update this review page.

Customer Service

Customer Service options are always one of the first things I look at when I am reviewing a casino. In many cases, I like to test one of the communication options to see how quickly the site responds and deals with my particularly easy question.

At Gaming Club, the company displays toll-free telephone numbers for over a dozen countries, including Canada where I am located. So, I figured if it isn’t going to cost me anything, why not give them a call? The phone was answered in a matter of seconds, and the agent then answered my question about depositing methods quickly and accurately. My experience was great, and while that is a minimal sample size, I hope yours will be as well.

In addition to telephone service, the casino can also be reached by using their Live Chat software. Strangely, I could not find an email address for them on their site; I know they are stingy with information, but maybe they just want to deal with players in real time.

Would I Play at Gaming Club Casino?

I must admit that I have a soft spot for the brands that have been in the industry as long as or longer than I have. It was a tight-knit community back then; it seemed that everyone knew everything that was going on and that we were the real outsiders of business. Even with the change of ownership, you still get a sense that the Gaming Club Casino is still operated with some of that old-school mentality in place. Now, that isn’t always a good thing – this casino needs to be far more transparent when it comes to their promotions and VIP program. However, they do continue to use some of the best software out there in Microgaming, and so with that in mind, I can recommend Gaming Club to anyone looking for an excellent, professional casino experience.
