It is not uncommon in this industry for one ownership group to operate several different brands. This practice not only allows for a lot of A/B testing of promotions, but it also gives the owners the chance to brand each casino differently to appeal to different groups of potential players. The owners of Lucky Nugget Casino fall into this category; as you will see in this review, they own many different brands.

As a reviewer of online casino sites, it is my job to find all the unique qualities of a site in order to give you the information needed to make your deposit. I do not take this job lightly; when it comes to brands that are under the same umbrella, it becomes especially important to determine if there is any value in you having multiple accounts with the same ownership group.

With that, here is my honest review of the Lucky Nugget Casino.

About Lucky Nugget Casino

Lucky Nugget Header

Taking part of their name from an iconic Las Vegas property, Lucky Nugget Casino is owned by the Digimedia Group of Casinos, otherwise known as the Palace Group of Casinos. This group operates 19 other brands, including Casino Epoca, Jackpot City, and many others. The parent company is based in Malta, which is a hot destination for online gaming companies. They also have their gaming license from the same country; the Malta Gaming Authority is one of the strictest regulators in the industry, so this should add some measure of comfort to you when you are ready to make your deposit.

Who Can Play at Lucky Nugget Casino?

While many countries are able to see and access this casino for real money, the list of countries that cannot is not small. This is due to restrictions put on the Palace Group by both their software provider and the regulatory board in Malta. Many casinos face the same issue without it affecting their business; the hope is that as more countries make online gambling legal, the casino can add them to the fold. For now, these countries are restricted from play at Lucky Nugget:

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • British Virgin Islands
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • France
  • French Guiana
  • French Polynesia
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • Iran
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Jersey
  • Netherlands
  • Portugal
  • Puerto Rico
  • Romania
  • Singapore
  • South Africa
  • Spain
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan
  • Turkey
  • S. Virgin Islands
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

Software Suppliers

The first thing I look at when I start my review of an online gambling site is the kind of software they are running. There are many levels of quality when it comes to casino software; you can get a base model very cheap but without any bells or whistles, and usually some sub-standard graphics or you can pay for the best out there. Lucky Nugget has chosen to go with the latter; they have selected Evolution Gaming and Microgaming for their offering.

If you haven’t heard of Evolution Gaming, you will be hearing more and more from them as the years go by. These guys are experts in the Live Dealer field, which is becoming more popular with each passing day. As for Microgaming, they have been one of the industry’s best developers since the last 1990s, so it is great to see them involved with this casino.

The Good Stuff

Jackpots

There are many progressive jackpots to choose from when you get to the lobby of this casino. The casino has a running tote board of the jackpots available; at the time of this review, it was over 2 Million USD and counting. The largest of these is the Mega Moolah machine, which could make you an instant millionaire if your spin triggers the jackpot.

You can play in different currencies

Seeing that the casino is taking players from all over the globe, it is an excellent added feature to have you be able to play the games in your currency or at least a currency you are used to. This means you can easily calculate your balance if they don’t necessarily have your currency offered. This attention to detail means a lot to someone like myself who plays casino games for several hours a day.

The Bad Stuff

Lack of Creativity

When you are managing 20 brands, it can be tough to get creative with each one. This is evident when I am reviewing Lucky Nugget; I see a lot of the same text and promotions as a couple of the other Palace Group sites. Thankfully, the color scheme of this site is different. Otherwise, I might just glaze over.

Vague Ongoing Promotions

There is a section of the promotions area of the website that outlines that the casino does offer ongoing deals to players. The problem is that there are no actual details on what those promotions are. You apparently have to be logged into the casino in order to read them; I don’t like that as I want to get my information right on the site before I start to play the games.

Game Selection

Video Poker

Lucky Nugget Video Poker

I love video poker. I have missed more than a couple of dinners in Las Vegas because I was caught in a long run at one of the video poker machines (don’t worry, if that is the case then I have usually hit something and am paying for the drinks after missing the dinner!). There are many variants to choose from at Lucky Nugget as the Microgaming software brings with it multiple versions of the game. Check them all out here:

  • All Aces
  • Jacks or Better
  • All American
  • Aces & Faces
  • Double Bonus
  • Bonus Deuces Wild
  • Tens or Better
  • Aces & Eights
  • Deuces & Joker
  • Double Double Bonus
  • Joker Poker (kings or better)
  • Bonus Poker Deluxe
  • Double Joker
  • Deuces Wild
  • Louisiana Double

Live Dealer Games

Lucky Nugget Live Dealer

I mentioned earlier how great it is to have Evolution Gaming providing the Live Dealer games for this casino. What I like about these games is that the gameplay is much more realistic than the digital versions; having an actual dealer dealing cards or spinning the ball makes the speed of the game mirror that of a land-based casino, just over a webcam. For this reason, I find myself staying at these tables longer, which is exactly what the casino hopes.

You can check out the following Live Dealer games in the Live Casino lobby:

  • Baccarat
  • Blackjack
  • Roulette
  • Casino Hold’em
  • Caribbean Stud Poker
  • 3 Card Poker

Slots

Lucky Nugget Slots

Microgaming’s suite of slots games will make you giddy with excitement. Aside from the great jackpot games, you will find great titles that you have definitely heard of before; the company has created content licensing agreements with several entertainment companies to bring to life popular TV shows, movies, and other characters.

I won’t waste space listing all the slots titles here in this review; you can go to the site for that. However, I do like highlighting games I have played in the past that I enjoy:

Table Games

Do you like Blackjack? Does anyone not like Blackjack, for that matter? Well, Lucky Nugget has you covered with several versions of the popular Table Game in their lobby. Each has its own set of rules and small twists, but don’t worry, the classic game is still there for you to play.

Promotions

There are several promotions currently running on the site; I am going to highlight two of them for you in this review.

Welcome Bonus

Lucky Nugget Promotions

So, the casino gives you two options when you make your first deposit. To find out all the details, I had to click on the Rules button (why they don’t just put this text into the actual site I have no idea). I immediately noticed that the rules had not been updated since 2011…ugh. Anyway, here is how the two bonuses work:

  • 150% Bonus up to $200
  • 100% Bonus to $1,000

Clearly, if you plan to make a hefty deposit, then the second bonus is the better option. Now, let’s look at some of the caveats:

  • You have 7 days after opening your account in order to take this bonus
  • The wagering requirement for the bonus is 50x – that is pretty high
  • Different games contribute differently to the bonus, as per this table:
All Slots, Keno, Scratch Card games 100%
Video Poker (excluding all aces pokers), all Blackjacks (excluding classic) 10%
Classic Blackjacks, All aces Video pokers 2%
All Roulette, Sic Bo, Craps, Baccarat, Table Poker, Casino War, Red dog, Wheel of Winners, Wheel of Riches 0%

All in all that is a horrifying bonus if you aren’t a slots player.

Banking

In the cashier section of the casino, you will find all the payment options available to you. This is the best way to have an idea of how you can make your deposit; the list below covers all the available methods. However, some of them may not be set up for your particular region.

  • Citadel Direct
  • ClickandBuy
  • Direct Bank Transfer

  • Lobanet
  • Maestro
  • MasterCard
  • Neteller
  • Paysafe Card
  • POLi
  • Postepay
  • QIWI
  • Skrill
  • Sofortuberwaisung
  • UseMyFunds
  • Visa
  • Visa Debit
  • Visa Electron

Withdrawal Options

  • ACH
  • Check
  • ClickandBuy
  • Easy EFT
  • EcoPayz
  • EZIPay

  • Pay Spark

  • QIWI

Comp Program

The Palace Group lacks a little creativity here with their Comp Program; it is precisely the same as many of their other casino brands. Nevertheless, here are the details of how you earn points in the casino:

Game Type Wagering required to earn 1 Loyalty Point
Reel Slots, Fruit Slots 3.30
Video Slots, Progressive Slots, Pai Gow Poker, Roulette 5.00
Blackjack, Video Poker, Poker 10.00
European Blackjack, Roulette Royale 33.00

I do like that they give you the point rates as they relate to each game; sometimes that can be buried in the Terms and Conditions, creating quite the shock when a player is done playing a long session.

When you are ready to redeem your points for cash, you can do so in increments of 200, for which you will receive $1 in your account. Be careful to check on your points regularly; they have an expiry date of 90 days so I wouldn’t want you to lose out on getting that extra cash just because the points end up disappearing from your balance!

VIP Program

Similarly to the Comp Program, the VIP Program is also a direct copy of many of the other Palace Group Casinos. To save you rooting around our site for other reviews, here are the details of each of the six levels of the program:

Blue Level

  • Status Points: 0-999
  • Tier Bonus: 0

Bronze Level

  • Status Points: 1,000-1,999
  • Tier Bonus: 1%

Silver Level

  • Status Points: 10,000-19,999
  • Tier Bonus: 5%

Gold Level

  • Status Points: 20,000-39,999
  • Tier Bonus: 10%

Platinum Level

  • Status Points: 40,000-59,999
  • Tier Bonus: 15%

Diamond Level

  • Status Points: 60,000+
  • Tier Bonus: 20%

While I definitely appreciate the fact that many levels can be achieved in this program, I wish I had some more information to pass along in the way of rewards. There is very little on the website explaining what each level receives; maybe when you get to one of the tiers, you will receive that information by way of email.

Customer Service

You can contact the customer service team at Lucky Nugget by phone, email or Live Chat. Also, even though it is a bit tough to navigate, there is an FAQ section where you will hopefully be able to find the answers to many of your questions.

Would I Play at Lucky Nugget Casino?

I have played at some of the Palace Group casinos in another life; they aren’t bad, but they aren’t the best I have ever come across. If you are someone who likes to take advantage of bonuses, comps, and VIP status as a main part of your gaming experience, then I would suggest you look at some of my other reviews to find a better option for you. However, if you are just looking for a clean site with great games, then you can’t go wrong with the Microgaming/Evolution combo. If you do end up playing with this casino, I would love to add your feedback to this review, so the next reader has even more insight into whether or not it is a good choice.
